Katja Dechering
After graduating in both Clinical Psychology and Work & Organizational Psychology, I consciously chose not to pursue a career as a psychologist but to transition to the corporate world. At the time, I told myself it was because I wanted to work in a more ‘results-oriented’ way. I had enjoyed studying psychology primarily to better understand myself and my surroundings, but I felt no intrinsic motivation to help people. The truth, however, was that I did not feel I could offer much added value and needed to experience my own life lessons and processes first! Many courses, training programs, personal exploration, and two severe burnouts followed to discover where my heart truly lies: working as independent psychologist in Alpen aan den Rijn, where I have the freedom to treat clients in my own way, independent of the rules and regulations of health insurers.
I have an analytical mind, but I am also highly sensitive and clairsentient. This has led me to find my own unique approach as a psychologist, in which I bring head and heart together. I believe that the key to a happy life lies in when those two are aligned!
In my free time, you can find me on the dance floor dancing Lindy Hop or inline skating with the Omniskaters. I also get a lot of pleasure from painting and drawing.
My Vision and Mission
I believe that when we dare to follow our heart, our intuition, our inner compass, we can lead a life full of happiness and freedom. That all kinds of complaints, both psychological and physical, are an expression that we are living according to beliefs that do not serve us. Perhaps we still think of ourselves as the ugly duckling, not realizing that a beautiful swan has long since emerged. Our beliefs may or may not be more or less conscious, and may or may not have originated from our upbringing, culture, or friends. Where they come from doesn't matter so much; what matters is what you can do and how to change them!
My mission is to teach people how to change that. How to start living the life they have always dreamed of. The world would be a more beautiful place if head and heart were more aligned, and I would love to help everyone find their Inner-Joy!
“A flower blossoms for its own joy.”
My Way of Working
“Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Until Earth and Sky stand presently at God's great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!”
Rudyard Kipling
East meets West: with a Chinese-Indonesian doctor as a mother and a Dutch cultural anthropologist with a fondness for Asia as a father, East and West literally come together for me in multiple ways. Although I spent part of my childhood in Asia, my initial approach as a psychologist was primarily towards conventional Western medicine; it was only during my own journey of discovery following my burnout that I came into contact with what is called alternative medicine and spirituality. I have therefore additionally completed the training to become an Energetic Therapist and several courses in the field of Healing and Mediumship.
My treatment method is therefore based on Western psychological theories, Eastern philosophical wisdom, and energy work.
I help people find balance and restore their natural equilibrium. To get head and heart aligned again. To understand who they truly are, what they want, and how they can achieve their desires. We have often forgotten how our internal compass works. Feelings and thoughts are beautiful, but how does it actually work? No one really teaches you that, and on the way to adulthood, we have often unlearned how to use our inner compass.
Based on my intuition and knowledge, I attune to what is needed for you, supported by the following methods:
- Appreciative Inquiry
- Positive Psychology
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Mindfulness
- EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)
- Systemic Therapy
- Energetic Therapy
- Teachings of Abraham-Hicks (Law of Attraction)
Code of Conduct
For me, it is natural to work in a responsible, integer, respectful and professional way as further elaborated in the Code of Conduct of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists.
However, a situation may unexpectedly arise in which you are perhaps not satisfied with the treatment or with me as a practitioner. In that case, please do not hesitate to tell me. I am happy to lend a listening ear and will do my best to work together to achieve a satisfactory result.
Are you still not satisfied afterwards, or do you find it uncomfortable to discuss your complaint with me? In that case, you can also choose to submit your complaint to the complaints officer of P3NL. You can do this by mailing a complaint form to: p3nl@klachtencompany.nl For more information click here.
