It is always nice when interest is shown in what I do. This time it was an interview with the Balansportaal

A place where people can also find my practice, which is of course always handy.

You may have already been able to read some of the information from the interview on this website, but here are a some of the answers to other questions that might be of interest to you:

What does ‘Inner-joy’ mean to you?

What does ‘Inner-Joy’ mean to you? We have learned to find happiness primarily externally: if I get that partner, that house, that job -> then I must be happy. To a certain extent that is true, but at the same time, people will discover that it doesn't quite work that way. If you ‘don’t have’ all those things, it is hard to believe, but precisely the people who do achieve those things will find out that there is often still something nagging them. They also say ‘happiness is an inside job’: that is also how I see it. True joy is to be found within. Inner-Joy is actually our natural state of being. We are all born without worries and with a great deal of joy.

What do you think are the most important beliefs holding people back from finding their ‘inner joy’?

We all have our ‘baggage’: things we have simply experienced, and so that is the ‘reality’. Mixed in there are all kinds of beliefs such as: I can’t do this, this will never work, it has to be this way, etc. One of the beliefs I often encounter, for example, is ‘you have to try very hard/work hard to achieve what you want’. You have to earn it, as if you aren’t already worthy of getting what you desire.

The beauty of it is: we are always proven right. So yes, you cannot deny what you have experienced, and it is often the basis of all the beliefs we hold. “Seeing is believing” is deeply ingrained in all of us. The tricky part is that it has become a magnifying glass: for what you have already experienced, you will also believe, and you will often continue to experience it (and thus see it confirmed again). Apparently, the Bible already stated that you must believe before you see. That saying certainly applies if you want to change things in your life. Only when you are open to the possibility that things can be different will you realize that this can actually happen.

What results can people expect from your help?

Most people primarily seek help when they are in dire need. Often, that is the first thing the focus lies on: exploring how they can find their way again and experience a little more peace and happiness. I often hear that after a few sessions, they truly have a completely different perspective on life. For some, that is enough. They have, as it were, gone from an emotional grade of 3 or 4 to a 7. Others go even further because they also realize deep down that an 8 or 9 is actually achievable, and then we continue working towards that goal as well.
